PETRALONA CAVE

The Petralona cave is one of the most important monuments, not only of Chalkidiki but of the entire Greece which is visited by thousands of visitors of every age. The cave is mostly known for traces of human habitation since 700.000 years ago, the ancient European ancestors that have ever been found.

The cave was found accidentally during the spring of 1959. The cave became famous all over the world after that. It was said to be the house of the first European citizen. It has a magnificent natural beauty and there are findings dated back to 700.00 years ago.
Most of the findings are exposed in the Anthropological Museum which is next to the cave.
It is open to the public every day and in public holidays, with a tourist guide from 09:00 to 16:00 during the winter ant to 18:00 during the summer
